Requirements

This page contains the requirements for a new implementation of distribution Orion.

The requirements are:

  • Sources
  • Automation account
  • Power Platform environment
  • SharePoint site
  • Shared mailbox
  • Data

Sources

Make sure that all sources (managed Power Platform solutions) are available before starting the installation steps.

Click here to go to the download page for distribution Orion version 1.0. It contains a downloadable package containing all sources.

The package also contains the unmanaged Power Platform solutions which is part of the continuity for organizations.

The table below contains the filenames for the mentioned sources.

VersionNameFile
1.0Forms and Flows - BaseFormsAndFlowsBase_2026_1_0_2_managed.zip
1.0Forms and Flows - OrionFormsAndFlows_Orion_2026_1_0_0_managed.zip

Automation account

An automation account is a Microsoft Entra ID account. Some organizations prefer to call this account a service account.

The automation account used for installation and updating the distribution is called the primary automation account.

As a minimum, one automation account is needed. Multiple automation accounts could be needed depending on the use of the automation platform. A dedicated page about this will be created in the near future.

Do not use automation accounts for something other than Forms and Flows due to the limited amount of API request per account.

Using a MFA enabled automation account is not supported due to token expiration.

Power Platform environment

Importing managed Power Platform solutions to a Power Platform environment is part of the installation steps.

The automation accounts must have the system administrator security role for the Power Platform environment used.

SharePoint site

Data is stored in a SharePoint site. This must be a dedicated site per implementation where only all automation accounts have direct access to.

All automation accounts must be site admin of the SharePoint site.

It is advised to use a SharePoint team site without a group. How to create such a site is shown here.

Shared mailbox

The automation platform supports sending emails to employees. A shared mailbox is used for this.

The automation account which will be configured for connection reference “FormsandFlows_CR_SharePoint_SendEmails” must have the permission to send emails via this shared mailbox.

Data

Make sure that the following data is available before starting the installation steps:

  • The primary automation account (username and password).
  • The ID (GUID) of the Power Platform environment used.
  • The URL of the SharePoint site used.
  • The email address of the shared mailbox.
  • The name, email address and UPN of the account used in the test process (if applicable).
